Wayne Street
This house was 2200 sqft, 4 beds, and 2.5 baths. The main level featured the master bedroom and master bath, kitchen, 2 living areas, and a formal dining room. Upstairs featured 3 large bedrooms, a bathroom with wasted space, and a leaky roof top balcony.
Since this was our first project, we didn’t have a lot of funds or resources. We had to do the majority of the work ourselves, along with Phillip, a long time family friend. It took us 9 months to complete this project. After the first day working here, Lynsi got put in the hospital for a week... She had to design the kitchen from her hospital bed. Sometimes, when you can *sorta* work, you work! This project was so important Lynsi did not want to miss any timelines we set for ourselves. It was the ignighter of our passion and grit to succeed. After she got out, it was right back to work!
We tore down the wall between the kitchen and living room to open up the space, and took out the drop ceiling to make a gorgeous 9 ft ceiling with recessed lighting. Also, made the pantry a little bit smaller and added a half bath on the main floor so that guests would not have to go upstairs for the bathroom. The screened in porch on the back was falling apart so we had to take it down. We did, however, salvage the pine boards to reuse as shiplap for the bathrooms. The upstairs bedrooms were in great shape so we just cleaned them up, refinished the flooring, and put a fresh coat of paint on. All new flooring, countertops, cabinets, appliances, and custom backsplash were installed.
The bathroom, however, needed all new plumbing, and a completely new floor plan. Before, you couldn’t sit on the toilet the proper way because it was too close to the wall, and the tub was in the middle of the floor with no sink. We fixed all those problems and went with a lovely, black and white farmhouse color palette with a wood accent on the vanity and vinyl flooring.
