Walton Street

This house was 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. This property, nestled on a beautiful 1.4 acre plot of land, was a well-lived in ranch home. It wasn’t hard to see the beauty and potential in this home. On the property there are plenty of gorgeous trees, however, one of those trees was causing a slight foundation problem. This was a little concerning at first, but luckily, we had the right people to fix it. We dug out the whole front of the house and around the side, cut up tree roots that were causing the problem, poured a thick, reinforced concrete wall around the foundation, and created a French drain to run the water far away from the foundation. Now, this house should stand strong for many, many years to come.

Now for the inside, we cut a picture window hole in the wall between the living room and kitchen to create a more open and inviting area, while keeping the areas separate. This allowed us to add more countertop and cabinet space, without taking space away from the kitchen or living room. The kitchen has a sun porch off of it and then off of that was a deck and a screened in porch.

Heading through the house, there were three bedrooms and just one bathroom. Well, there’s plenty of room to fix that. So first we had to figure out how to utilize the screened in porch into living space. There’s a giant deck on the other side that we completely rebuilt so there’s plenty of outdoor space to hangout. For this screened in area, right off a bedroom, I had a great idea of transforming it into a master bedroom and a walk in closet. It allowed us to remove the closet in the current bedroom, use 3 inches from that space to make the hall bathroom bigger and reconfigure it as well to make it more functional. That extra space also added an extra 20+ SQFT to the bedroom.

So the giant area of the current screened in porch was mine to play with. As I was doing different floor plans, I realized that there’s so much room that I could add a washer and dryer to the upstairs making a one floor living home! I got to work on this new idea, but I needed some help with it so I called in my dad. My dad built houses for many years, so this should be no problem. I had so much fun trying to figure this out with my dad and we came up with a floor plan that will be large, functional, and luxurious.

This is what we came up with, you get a double vanity, a giant shower with a bench, and a big walk-in closet. At the time of writing this, the framing has been completed on it. I cannot tell you how amazing it feels to see it come to life. I am very proud to make this a lovely home for the new owners.

Lastly, the basement was a huge open space. It’s quite amazing how much space is actually downstairs. There was also a random plumbed in toilet that needed a proper room. So we ended up finishing part of the basement, but still wanted to leave plenty of room for storage, and added a half bath. So this home will now have extra square footage and an extra 1.5 bathrooms. I will be excited to show the after pictures of this gorgeous property!
